Can I come over?

Let’s be real for a hot minute. Just a hot minute.

I was chit chatting with a girl friend earlier this week. We were talking about our homes and people coming over to our houses. Cue the scary music in your head 😂

Y’all know the tune. The one that causes you MAJOR anxiety and heart palpitations.

Whether you are a stay at home mom, a full time working mom, not a mom at all, not home or home all the time, regardless the emotion is the same about a dirty house.

We don’t want our friends to come over unannounced, a party sounds like a nightmare and having a play date sounds like torture.

But….

What if we didn’t care about our messy homes? Or even our sparkly cleans homes? What if we didn’t care about the dirt, dust and dishes. What if we didn’t need things to be XYZ to have people over to our homes! What if we let our guards down, and just LIVED LIFE with the people around us.

Women tend to put pressure on themselves without help from others.

Thoughts like “what will they think if my floors aren’t cleaned?”

“What will they think if my yard is a riddled with toys??”

“What will happen if they actually SEE my house a MESS?!”

Even typing this, it legit brings me anxiety.

It doesn’t help when all your friends are posting their Pinterest level instagrams. You know the ones, the ones that make you want to GUT your home and start over, or go spend $500 at target on curtains and candles, cause that crap makes everything look fabulous.

I sometimes sit back and think about what my kids, friends and families memories will be of me.

Will it be that they could come as they are, whenever, however and my door would be open? Or is it going to be XYZ has to happen first! Once my house is Pinterest level, y’all can come over. You know what I’m saying?

I don’t want my kids growing up in an environment where I’m being a maniac about messes and cleaning.

I don’t want my friends to feel like my door isn’t open to them.

I don’t want things to have to be XYZ in order for LIFE to happen with others.

Homes come and go. Messes will be there. Dirt is a part of life. Dust will see you tomorrow.

But today.. you only get ONE TODAY with your family and friends.

So, if your house is a mess, amazing! If your house is in a Pinterest magazine, amazing!

But, for the LOVE of LIFE, don’t sweat the dirt and messes. It’s refreshing to LET IT GO..

Happy memory making friends!

Until next time,

-Becca
